Additional comments:

Lake Osisko, which separates Rouyn from Noranda, was highly polluted by mine tailings until the 1970s, but now it is much healthier.

The dead forest at the foreground of Mount Cheminis might have been flooded by beavers, an ‘engineering’ species very active in those areas (northern Ontario and Quebec).

As for the 'Old Stone Houses' painting, Clémence St. Laurent has traveled extensively in Europe and many of her paintings describe scenes from the countries she visited.
